Regional Competitions

The competion takes place in two stages:

Regions in bloom - For the purpose of stage one of the competition, Britain In Bloom is divided into 12 English regions together with Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, Isle of Man and Jersey. Stratford is one of 7 counties in the Heart of England.

Entries are usually made by District, Borough, Town or Parish Councils and vary from small villages to large cities. These entries are then judged against entries of similar status and by independant and appropriately qualified judges.

We, on behalf of the town, enter the Heart of England in Bloom Competition which if successful, enables us to be selected for the National Competition, leading to the Entente Floral which covers Europe.

Stratford in Bloom have had many successes in the past. The highlight being when our town was judged third when representing Britain in 1988 in the Entente Floral. This success was recognised by the erection of a tablet which can be seen on the Sheep Street corner immediately opposite the Town Hall.

In 1987/8  Stratford was judged as National winner for small town. On many occasions the town has been judged as winners for both small town and again as medium town when the population increased. In 2008 we were awarded a silver gilt award for our entry as a large town.

This year, 2013, Stratford In Bloom have entered the Heart of England In Bloom competition and we will be judged on Wednesday 10th July.
